Data security and international transfers
Your privacy is important to us. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your personal data secure and to protect it from unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
-
We use secure systems and limit access to staff and service providers who need the information to perform their duties.
-
Some of our cloud or IT providers may store data outside the UK. If we transfer personal data to a country that the UK government has not recognised as providing adequate protection, we will put in place approved safeguards (for example the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement) to ensure it is protected to UK standards.
-
Details of the UK’s current “adequacy decisions” are available from the Information Commissioner’s Office.
We also ask you to take reasonable steps to protect your own privacy—for example, avoid sending confidential information over unencrypted email, password-protect attachments and use secure delivery methods for original documents.
We normally keep personal data for at least six years after our relationship ends to meet regulatory and accounting requirements. In some cases we may need to keep records longer where the law allows.
